‘On Monday 12th December an Order was laid in Parliament that, subject to the approval of MPs and Peers, will this week proscribe a UK far-right group as a terrorist organisation for the first time. National Action is a racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic neo-Nazi group that was established in 2013 and has a number of branches across the UK. Proscription will make it a criminal offence to belong or support National Action and is a valuable weapon in the armoury available to the police and security service to disrupt terrorist activity.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said:  “As Home Secretary, I am clear that the safety and security of our families, communities and country comes first. “So today I am taking action to proscribe the neo-Nazi group National Action. This will mean that being a member of, or inviting support for, this organisation will be a criminal offence.  “National Action is a racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic organisation which stirs up hatred, glorifies violence and promotes a vile ideology, and I will not stand for it. It has absolutely no place in a Britain that works for everyone.”
