“A Stronger Community and Voluntary Sector”
POP is the Plymouth Octopus Project, and it reaches out into the city to unite community and voluntary services and get their voices heard.
It is funded by PCC at £60,000pa until March 2017, to:
- Create networks so VCS groups can work together
- Manage these so that the VCS can influence policy, planning and delivery of PCC services
- Help the VCS be engaged with the Transformation agenda in PCC on changing services
- Enable VCS and the community to design and produce services with Integrated Commissioning
We see this as a one off opportunity to support the sector to unite, to find a voice and to take a full part in the services of the city. Our aim in the long run (March 17) is to leave a united sector, with its own organisation which is recognised as an equal partner with statutory and private services.
So far we have a working party of VCSE organisations who have written a constitution, done an outline business plan, opened a bank account and are working towards having this organisation set up by late summer 16. Progress so far will be presented at our conference on 28th April. You can book here and anyone is welcome to join the working group.
The new Plymouth VCSE (CIO) has been formed and is now moving forward. Complete the Registration Form here
